Get out the baking sheets and soften the butter – It’s a Christmas Cookie Bake-Off !

  • This is a social event.
  • Attendee to the event may choose to either be a Baker or a Non Baker.
  • This contest is open to amateur bakers of all ages. Non-members are welcome to participate in any capacity.
  • All attendees are welcome to sample the cookies and have a choice of voting anonymously.
  • All attendees are encouraged to purchase lunch and/or refreshments. Abbey Road have kindly offered the use of the function room for the event free of charge.

Cookie drop-off no later than 11:00am at the venue.
Judging between 11:30am -12:00pm
Winners announced at 2:00pm


  1. Only cookies are eligible.
  2. All Cookies must be entered in the name of the baker. No, Store-bought cookies, please.
  3. Each Entry must contain a minimum of 12 clearly identified cookies. There is no maximum number of cookies or overall size requirement for the entry. Each entry must, however, be accompanied by the cookie name and a copy of their recipe (Listing each ingredient in exact measurements and detailed, step-by-step preparation instructions)
  4. There is no limit on the number of entries per person. Entrants may submit as many recipes as they'd like, as long as recipes are widely different. Entrants MAY submit multiple recipes with different flavours and ingredients (i.e. frosted sugar cookie, chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal cookie).
  5. Please enter cookies on your choice of display platter/container.
  6. Upon arrival at the show, each entry will receive an identification number that will be attached to the cookie display base to assist in judging. Likewise, the entrant must maintain the anonymity of his/her entry until judging is complete.
  7. All entries will be photographed and shared on BritsAbroad website and social media. By entering the competition, you are giving us permission to share pictures.
  8. Bakers are requested to ensure the cookies are dropped off at the Cookie Contest venue between 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2023.
  9. Registration must be completed and display completed for judging no later than 11:00 a.m. November 30, 2023; no entries will be accepted after that time.
  10. All entrants must check in at the registration desk before heading for to the social area.
  11. Judging will begin promptly at 11:30 a.m., November 30, 2023.
  12. Judges decisions are final.

Judging Criteria:-

  • Theme/Festiveness
  • Appearance
  • Creativity
  • Taste
  • Overall Appeal


  • Cookies will be judged by a panel of cookie-eating experts.
  • Each judge assigns a numerical value (1-20) in each criteria, without consultation with the other judges.
  • The cookies receiving the highest total numerical value is the winner.
  • All Non bakers will have an anonymous vote each.
  • The Contest Committee will tally all of the ballots. The contestant with the highest score will be the winner.
  • In case of a tie, the judges will judge those cookies again.

We are no longer taking reservations for this event. All reservations must have been received by Wed 29 Nov.
It is no longer possible to cancel reservations. Cancellations will incur any charges that are not refundable by Brits Abroad. Failure to attend an event may also incur charges.
Brits Abroad will make every effort to honour your reservation but occasionally, due to circumstances beyond our control, this might not be possible. As such, Brits Abroad reserves the right to cancel your reservation at any time before the event at the discretion of the event organiser.
