Join us to explore the Old British Settlement of Shanghai

After Shanghai was opened up to foreign trade in 1842, the first self-governing ‘concession’ was granted to the British in 1843. They settled by the Huangpu River and by Suzhou Creek, where the oldest western structure on The Bund still stands. We will look at the architecture of the buildings and hear some interesting stories about this area and its former residents, walking through the lavish and wealthy areas to the underworld and red light districts.
