At 10.20 we will start to make our way down to 310 Hengshan Lu, (Washington Apartments).  From there our tour guides Kirsty and Nicki will meet us and the walk will commence at 10.30am prompt

Walk description -

Art Deco grew out of Art Nouveau it made it’s appearance in Paris in 1925.  During the late 1920’s and early 1930’s Art Deco swept through the world and ultimately reached Shanghai, a city blessed with a booming economy and a population striving from modernism.  The rise of Shanghai was unique in the history of international urban development.  The modern city emerged under the administration of 3 separate governments, the British dominated the international settlement, the French Concession and the Chinese controlled territory surrounding them.  This walk introduces you to fourteen Art Deco gems in the French Concession.  The walk starts in front of the Washington Apartments at #310 Hengshan Lu and ends in front of the Hanray Apartments at #1162 Huaihai Zhong Lu (cross street Donghu Lu)
